DS Game Cases Going Away?

So according to this story

http://ds.qj.net/Nintendo-facing-plastic-shortages-/pg/49/aid/67612

Nintendo is facing plastic shortages, so they're going to start selling DS games in cardboard sleeves like GBA games. This infuriated me until I realized that it's just a temporary situation. I love having a permanent case for my games. I abhor the fact that I don't have cases for any of my GBA games. This is part of the reason I don't buy used games. That is, if they don't come with a case.

According to the site, if you buy a game without a case, you can call customer service in late December and request one.

My biggest complaint, though, is that they made the cases about 10 times larger than they needed to be to hold a DS game! Just make the cases smaller! That'd also fix the plastic shortage. They could use at most half the plastic and still have a case plenty big enough.

I wondered why they didn't just use a jewel case w/ a special tray insert, myself. Custom-molded cases seem like overkill for console games, IMO.

The original PlayStation cases were terrible, but the 2nd-gen PSX cases and Dreamcast game cases all used standards jewel cases which, IMO, are definitely the way to go.

I like custom cases, though. I hate getting my GC games mixed up with DVD's. As long as they still fit on the shelf, I dont' have a problem. It's nice to be able to buy a replacement case, though, for PS1 games. I will admit that.

When I want GC or PS2 cases, I just go to Movie Gallery and ask if they have any extras. I'm not sure about DS cases, though.

Yeah, I wish they rented those out. That would rock.

By the way, I just sold my Mario Kart DS box for $7.50 on eBay.

Why someone would pay that much for a box is beyond me.

Yeah, it's not as though it's a Halliburton.

Nintendo of Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg) is facing a plastic shortage, so they’re going back to the cardboard style of GBC/GBA days.

May not hit America.

Yeah, I hope it doesn't.
