Missouri to Ban Labeling Milk rBST-Free?

This is a classic example of the political corruption ever-present in our great country.

A huge biotech company, Monsanto, the marketer of the rBST (the rapid bovine growth hormone), is lobbying to make it illegal to label milk "rBST-free." The House is about to consider a bill of this nature, HB 2283. Making it illegal to label what is not in your product (or used to make your product), I really can't fathom. But it really shows how much power big business has just to see how far this push has come.

This is one of the prime reasons I can never go 100% Libertarian. The market may take care of itself, but it doesn't prevent corruption. I'm not sure there's a political philosophy that does, honestly. One of the best things about Obama's campaign is that he has taken no money from lobbyists. It's a sad state of affairs when the issues don't even matter to me nearly as much as governmental damage control. If we can take just one step away from the corruption that encompasses this nation, I would prefer it to bread and circuses for the rest of my life.
