Update

I haven't really updated in a while. I suppose I was waiting for enough stuff to happen to me that I'll have more than the same shit to talk about. bjbass thought I should write something profound, but I haven't had a lot of profound thoughts lately. I need to get in the updating mood first, I think. I feel rusty. Soon I'll come up with something incredibly amazing, though.

I finished my first batch of homemade cider this week. It has a bit more of a yeast taste than I'd prefer, as I used active dry instead of brewer's yeast, but it's highly alcoholic (tastes around 10% to me), and actually not horrible. It's almost wine-like. My homemade one-way valve (read: plastic tube hot-glued to the bottle lid and fed into a bottle of water) worked brilliantly. Now that I know I can do it, I can start varying the recipe and process until I am sufficiently successful.

Dave and Kanthi's Wedding is this weekend. Megan's busy as all get-out because of it. They had the bachelorette party last night, while I stayed home and watched a movie (Vacancy). I don't know if Dave had a bachelor party or not, as nobody ever called me about it. That was a little shitty. I'm sure if I had called him, he would've invited me, but I didn't wanna be that guy. The rehearsal dinner is tonight, which I'm going to only because Megan is the Matron of Honor. I'm looking forward to the actual wedding itself, though, as I'll get to wear my suit with my new hat:

I've been on kind of a movie craze this month. I've watched 14 movies. Mostly ones I've recorded on the DVR, but a few rentals and theater viewings as well. If you care, my ever-growing list can always be found here.

I've also gotten back into reading lately. I just finished the autobiography of Marilyn Manson, and now I'm reading Animal Farm again (for the first time since high-school). I bought The Time Machine the other day, which I have never read, and I'm going to start back Alex's book soon, too. I shall finish it.

My car ate about 3 quarts of oil in one month. It's getting pretty bad. I might be thinking about a new engine soon. I should be thinking about a new car, really.

This summer is going to be triprageous. Lake Geneva on June 13th, and Kiawah Island the first week of August. I don't particularly want to go on either trip. I don't really wanna do anything but read, watch movies, play tennis, etc. Maybe they'll have tennis courts at Kiawah Island. I know they have golf courses, which is one of the primary reasons my dad is excited. I hate golf, though.

EDIT: This is priceless. IMDB forums are comedy gold. Listen to this whackjob on the board for Vacancy:
I would never visit the USA....

How was Vacancy? And the Manson book? How'd you like Hot Fuzz?

I just realized that I have a metric ass-load of shit to do in the next 48 hours (we leave for the beach at 9am on Sunday) and, as a result, may end up missing the wedding tomorrow night. D'oh!

I'm planning to spend some quality time with the Wii (esp. Mario Kart and Brawl) while I'm on vacation, plus watch some movies that've been piled up sine before the move (Serial Killing 101 and The Bourne Identity, courtesy of Netflix, then Southland Tales, courtesy of Monty).

If I can find my Golden Sun and Golden Sun II carts, those are going, as well.

I meant to bring you my copy of Donnie Darko, but totally forgot it this morning when I left the house. I might bring it in this weekend before I leave town and leave it on your desk.

(Hyperlinking is FTW, BTW.)

When you get off-base, check my Flixster on Facebook for my full reviews, but basically I hated Vacancy. Boring, generic, no surprises or twists, just 2 people doing godlike maneuvers to escape highly inept killers for an hour and a half.

I was actually a bit disappointed in how the Manson book ended. Kind of abrupt. It was very interesting, though. Megan said she wants to read it next, so I may hold on to it for a bit longer.

Hot Fuzz was great for the first half, but the second half was a bit too NotLD for my taste. It really looked like it was going somewhere, but then it turned into mindless action. There were a few dry funny moments, but overall I didn't like the gear shift.

I wish you had told me about the Golden Sun games, as I have both of those. If you manage to make it to the wedding (and can't find your copies), let me know and I can bring mine.

No worries, I got about 6 movies on my DVR right now queued up if you will.

i don't think Dave did anything like that. i called him yesterday to say hello and ask about the wedding details and he was just chillin' at home.

what are the purposes of those trips you're taking?

Hmm.. Jessica and Erin seemed to know that something was going on before they left. Or maybe they were just being stupid.

Oh, right, the second part. Lake Geneva is where Megan's dad's side of the family is having their family reunion. My mom and dad are taking me, my brothers, and our female counterparts for a random trip to Kiawah Island. I don't really know why, except that maybe they're going to give us some horrible news when we get there or something.

We've been missing out! Hey, you want to go halves on a rural motel? We'll be rich. I like that better than the cannibalism thing. Trying to cut back on fat and cholesterol, ya know?
