GOD DAMMIT

I was sitting here, at the computer, stalling time until it got a little cooler to mow the yard, and I just hear this huge clap of thunder. I look outside, and it's just a little dreary, so I think maybe I can beat it.. or at least get the part between the curb and sidewalk done.

But no, as soon as I have my shoes on and step outside, it's pouring.

After five minutes, it stops.

Just thought I'd share.

It's been doing that here all week. Like the sun will still be shining, and then the clouds will just throw up on us or something. And then it's done.

Seeing an atheist use "god damnit" is always funny to me.

You don't believe in God (or any god, for that matter), so why should he/she/it damn anything for you?

I'm not asking anything. It's an expression. Do you only speak in literal terms?

Not necessarily, no, but that doesn't preclude me from finding humor in atheists using "god damnit" and "swear to god". It's amused me for more than 10 years now.

So are you amused every time you hear a figurative expression, or is it just in this context?

Not with every figurative expression, no.

This particular context, however, does it for me.

Is it just as amusing when you hear a Christian say "God Dammit!" when you know they're not really asking their god to damn anything?
