I Avoid Cliches Like the Plague

Lifehacker posted this link to a BBC story listing 20 of their readers' most hated cliches. When I think of a cliche, I usually think of an overly-specific (proverbial even) phrase that is overused, but these are just everyday phrases that you might not pay much attention to. The funny thing is that if you string them together, it reads like a Nicholas Fehn sketch:

1. Basically
2. To be fair
3. To be honest
4. Going forward
5. The fact of the matter is
6. Let's face it/Let's be honest
7. Touch base
8. At the end of the day
9. In the pipeline
10. The reason being
11. I'm not being funny but...
12. You know
13. By the end of play today
14. Singing from the same hymn sheet
15. Can't get my head round it
16. A raft of proposals
17. To roll out (new initiatives etc)
18. Don't just talk the talk, you got to walk the talk
19. Lessons will be learned
20. Actually

Some of them must only be found across the pond, but I'd add to that list:

-No offense, but...
-The thing is is that...

A couple of purely work-related ones:

-Get the ball rolling (on a project or task)
-Ramp up
