I think I'm starting to feel some old emotions again. Maybe some feelings I haven't felt in five years or so, since before I started Paxil, during the magical/horrible/interesting summer of 2003. I'm not exactly sure what brought this on, but music is just feeling more like music again. That doesn't make any sense.

It might've started building up from late last year when Band of Horses played "No One's Gonna Love You" and it made my heart explode. But I think it fully hit me tonight. I just watched Jimmy Eat World on Letterman and it threw me back to when I first heard the Bleed American demos during the summer of 2001. And then this band came on Last Call earlier called Your Vegas, who I fully expected to hate (based superficially on their stage presence and appearance while fast-forwarding), but I was really impressed. It reminded me a little of The Killers, The Bravery, and some Keane thrown in there. I came to find out they're actually supporting The Bravery on their upcoming tour. So, after downloading Chase This Light to see if the rest of the album is as much of a throw back as their performance indicated, I put on Mander Salis. Oh, man. What a perfect record that was. And hell, still is. This kid that used to make fun of me in Chemistry class has made a better record than I ever will. If the damn thing weren't so inspiring it'd be depressing me. The line from "The Sun Tells the Moon", "I'm just a means, yeah they all want ends" was one of the inspirations for "Means and Ends." I knew there was a reason I kept this userpic.

EDIT: That was bizarre. About an hour ago I ran into Kevin at Ding How 2.

did you like the song we put on the mix?

I did. This is weird, though lol. I said something to Kevin about it like "I liked that song they put on the Vertical House sampler" and he was confused. So I said "There was a track just called 'unreleased'.. I think it was post-Cotton Teeth, that Vertical House put on their sampler for Record Store Day" and he was like "I don't actually know what song that is.." and I said "well, it's good, anyway."

haha yeah...they actually don't know we put it on there. we didn't have time to get everyone's permission, but franklin had sent us all the songs they recorded while at sewane, so we figured it might be ok to put one on there as long as we weren't selling them...just spreading the love :)

but yeah, none of the songs came with titles except "sewanne track 1"

i actually sent franklin a message asking if we could put out a 7" of those songs, and he was down...but they gotta figure out what's going on with the label :P

Yeah, I Was wondering about that. Are they still under contract? Cause Kevin was saying they were on kind of indefinite hiatus.
