FTH Update...

After a day of role calls, filibustering, basic childish name-calling, whining about wanting to go home (REALLY), etc. it looks like the VERY LAST DAY (a week from Monday) of this session is the last chance to pass HB196.. This is the latest:
The Rules Chairman gave our lobbyist a choice of going tonight or on the final day. Knowing the general mindset of the Senate after the grueling day they've had, he chose the final day. So we didn't come up today, and it was a strategic decision on the part of our lobbyist.

Our chances are still strong, look to the 19th, their final meeting day.

I was a day late on reading your last post about this. Is there anything that can be done at this point? Who do I write/email?

Well, the Senate is taking a week off before meeting for the very last day. You can still call or email the Senator of your district, but if you're in the same district as Dave (7), your rep is going to be Parker Griffith, who is already the main supporter of the bill. Mine's Arthur Orr, and I'm not exactly sure where he stands on the issue, but I'll be calling him this week again.

The main opponent still threatening to filibuster is Hank Erwin. Anyone and everyone should call him and politely ask that he let the Senate vote instead of taking it upon himself to block the legislation because of his personal vendetta against it.

There's more info at the AL Legislature web site for finding out what district you're in and such: http://www.legislature.state.al.us
