There are so many things I'm excited about. I have to enumerate them.

The new Nintendo DSi:
-Smaller and lighter, with bigger screens, and both screens are now touch screens
-0.3 Megapixel camera and photo editor!
-Ability to edit photos with the touch screens after taking them with the camera! (Instant captioning perhaps? Then instant uploading to Livejournal/Facebook/etc?)
-Ability to play Virtual Console games from the Wii on it!
-MP3 AAC playback support
-SD Card support for games, photos, and MP3s
-Web browser and other apps built-in
-Increased Wi-Fi connectivity
-New games coming out for it include Mario & Luigi 3 (Mario RPG series), Kirby, and Mega Man
-$180 price point

The Wii:
-SD cards are going to be able to store Wii games soon
-They're going to remake a number of GameCube games with new Wii control scheme (I can haz Metroid Prime 1 and 2, please?)
-Punch-Out! Wii
-Sin and Punishment 2

Finally some more decent Wii games; all TWO of them. I feel slightly cheated that they expect me to get excited over more Wii-makes, though.

new DS looks worth it, though.

My only Wii-exclusive interest from that list is Punch-Out!!, which is liable to be an ass-kicking workout.

I haven't seen anything about the Rygar game ... I'll have to look into that.

I was hoping to hear something about Pikmin 3, but no dice. I hope that the Pikmin nod @ E3 wasn't referring to these Wii-makes (to steal a term from Rob).

Really? I'm looking forward to (at the very least) Animal Crossing, Wii Music, Family Ski (if it uses the balance board), Trace Memory, Sin & Punishment 2, Castlevania, and FFCC. I don't honestly know which games from the whole list are going to be exclusive, but I can guess on a few (Castlevania won't be, for example).

I hope that the Pikmin nod @ E3 wasn't referring to these Wii-makes

It is, (un?)fortunately. I never got to play Pikmin, so maybe this will be a good introduction. But you can bet if it sells well, they'll be working on a new one.

Yep. Mario & Luigi 3 will probably be a pretty solid title, but the rest of it? Eh.

It is, (un?)fortunately.

Un- is definitely the case.

I wasn't really asking. The "un" was for you. I think it's great. It's not going to take efforts away from new games.
Oct. 3rd, 2008 05:21 am (UTC)
... I was hoping for Pikmin 3. If this is "the" Pikmin they were referring to, it's definitely unfortunate. The original two can be found for cheap in lots of places.

I saw that ... meant to come back and reply, but never did. thx.
Oct. 9th, 2008 05:53 pm (UTC)
Yeah. I'm starting to get pretty excited about Sin & Punishment 2.
Oct. 2nd, 2008 08:51 pm (UTC)
(In addition to Punch-Out, that is.)

Punch-Out is going to be so awesome. If it plays well (read 1:1), it could possibly be the best workout game ever. And to up the difficult, just put on some wrist weights.

Much appreciated. Maybe the Wii does have some life left and hopefully someone can figure out how to cater to the hardcore set. Those japanese lists can be a bit frustrating, since a fourth of those games won't come to the US. I doubt we'll see that new Klonoa game, for example.

I should mention that Deadly Creatures and Mushroom Men could good original games.

cut-paste FTL on that last sentence.

...could be good original games.
