Who, of those who live in Huntsville, has a doctor that they like or would recommend? And preferably, if you know they are taking new patients, that's a plus. I need one, if not for my current ailment, at some point in the future I will need regular one. I'm looking for a General Practitioner. I'd rather ask my own friends than a community of strangers or picking blind out of the phonebook. My parents' doctor is edging towards retirement, so he's probably not going to be a good choice.

I go to Julia Fowler. She is part of the group in that building next to what used to be Bruno's on Bailey Cove, between the store and the apartments. That entire group is a "family practice" clinic so I think they're all GP's. I actually find it easier to talk to a woman, and she doesn't bug me about being too fat or about not checking my blood sugar enough.

Some of the more personal exams seemed a little strange at first, but you get used to it. It's not for everybody it's been OK for me. She's not bad looking either, for what that's worth. I don't have any way of telling whether she's a good doctor or not because I know next to nothing about medicine, but she always knows what I'm talking about and gets me fixed up. I think anybody there would be OK.

Male/female isn't much of an issue for me, except that on the plus side, a male doctor will have a lot more firsthand knowledge about men's health-related issues. If I had ED someday, I think it'd be hard to talk to a woman about. (No pun intended.)

If you had ED, a pretty lady doctor might be the solution. ;)

You might also ask for a recommendation from your childhood pediatrician, or from your parents' doctor.

i go to patrick o'neil (for the "normal" stuff)...he's fantastic! he's been with me since before my cancer days...in fact, he's the one that found it.

i think the only downside for you might be that he's in madison...however, it's RIGHT off the interstate, so it's 10 minutes from my house in huntsville. not bad at all, really!

good luck finding a doc...and i hope you feel better soon!

I guess you didn't know that we live in Madison now? Megan and I bought a house right here back in 2005. So that's actually an upside! lol

And maybe that helps to excuse how little we manage to make it down to Lowe Mill!
